Job description

Overview

As a result of recent successes and the development of new projects and clients, Stantec is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer into our Energy & Resources team. This role can be based in any of our UK offices but will ideally be reachable from the Midlands/Bristol. Working as part of our Waste and Generation Team, you will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects including conventional EfW plants, district heating, gasification projects, hydrogen generation schemes and multiple biogas production projects. In this role you will be involved in the whole project life cycle, from optioneering through to detailed design and installation. You will be involved with feasibility studies, site surveys and investigations. You will work collaboratively with clients, partners and other team members to develop designs and project-wide solutions across a wide variety of projects across Stantec\'s Energy and Resources sector. As Designers in the construction/energy/waste sectors it is incumbent on us to take our responsibility for HSE matters seriously and we foster a culture of open scrutiny and continuous improvement in these areas.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the full project life cycle from optioneering through to detailed design and installation.
• Participate in feasibility studies, site surveys and investigations.
• Collaborate with clients, partners and team members to develop designs and project-wide solutions across Stantec\'s Energy and Resources sector.
• Create technical outputs such as specifications, schedules, and reports for a range of technologies (e.g., steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass, EfW plants).
• Support the production of General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
• Develop specifications and scoping documents for award of construction packages and assess vendor designs and progress.
• Communicate technical updates effectively to clients and team members.

Qualifications

• Experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, ideally with the energy/power sector or related process plant sector.
• Ideally Chartered or on the road to Chartered status.
• Experience producing technical specifications across a wide range of technologies and supporting design outputs.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate technical information to clients and team members.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and assess specifications and scoping documents for construction packages and vendor designs.
• Values aligned with client focus, community-minded design, collaboration and service excellence.
