Mechanical Design Engineer

Plymouth, Commutable from: Tavistock, Ivybridge, Saltash, Yelverton

Up to £45,000 per annum + Bonus + Early Finish on Friday + Pension + Extra Benefits

Excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in mechanical systems design to join a market‑leading, international company. The company is a well‑established, highly revered manufacturing company in the Plymouth area with sites across the world that not only are renowned for the quality of their products but also for being a leading and progressive employer within the area. Due to growth, they are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team.

The Role
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs, creating accurate 3D models, drawings and BOMs using CAD software. You will collaborate with fabrication, production, quality, project management and supply chain teams as well as liaise directly with the customers to manage timelines and expectations.
  • Balance design with cost effectiveness, identifying opportunities to simplify manufacture and assembly processes while maintaining product functionality.
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant standards (UL, UKCA, CE etc.) and produce supporting documentation to achieve compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement.
  • Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm, 3:30pm finish on Fridays.

The person
  • BSc/BEng or equivalent in mechanical engineering, design, or other applicable field.
  • Proven experience in a mechanical design role.
  • CAD Software (Creo and/or Inventor desirable).
