Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Term: Permanent

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

An engineering company based in Peterborough is looking to expand their team by hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a great opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects within a supportive and growing design team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following:

1. Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
2. 2+ years of experience in mechanical design
3. Proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)
4. Knowledge of materials, fabrication, and manufacturing processes
5. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
6. Good communication and teamworking skills
7. Attention to detail and a proactive attitude

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

1. Designing components and assemblies using CAD
2. Creating and updating technical drawings and BOMs
3. Supporting product development from concept through to manufacture
4. Liaising with other departments to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
5. Modifying existing designs based on performance feedback or customer requirements
6. Contributing to continuous improvement within the design function
