Job description

Are you passionate about innovation in electric propulsion? A pioneering technology company is looking for a driven and detail–oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will:

  • Design and develop mechanical components for electric motors and generators, including housings, stators, and rotors.
  • Conduct 3D modelling and structural analysis (FEA) to optimise designs for performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Produce and review engineering drawings and specifications in line with internal and industry standards.
  • Lead prototyping and validation activities, iterating designs based on test results.
  • Support manufacturing by ensuring mechanical designs are cost–effective, scalable, and high quality.

The Mechanical Design Engineerwill have:
  • Degree–qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience of machinery & equipment or DFM i.e. rotating machinery, or developing/manufacturing
  • Strong CAD skills ideally with SolidWorks (other platforms also considered).
  • Familiarity with FEA tools and an understanding of material properties and manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience with GD&T and mechanical drawing standards.
  • Comfortable working hands–on with prototyping, testing, and refining mechanical systems.
