Job description

Our client has decided to localise the assembly of one of their latest specialist power electronic equipment as part of their global export strategy. Consequently they are in the market for a suitable candidate to help lead this activity working closely with their China based specialists and selected UK based manufacturing partner company.

The Manufacturing Manager role is a hugely important role where you will help facilitate and achieve their ambitious objectives. Initially the activity will be focused on the high current power supplies for the next generation steel furnaces to support our key partner, then the second stage will look to other product lines such as the STATCOM platform.

You will have a strong background in electrical manufacturing with appropriate postgraduate qualifications and be fluent in English and Chinese in order to communicate effectively with the relevant internal business teams and external supply chain partners.

You will have the willingness and capability to travel within the UK and Internationally, and must have good knowledge of the UK/European manufacturing and supply chain to help identify key supply chain partners.

You will also actively support the wider engineering and project teams where necessary during the execution of related projects.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Help assemble the documentation and information necessary for relevant technology transfer from China to UK manufacturing teams
  • Work with local assembly partner company to develop local supply chain necessary to comply with COO and destination Customs requirements.
  • Lead the manufacturing team for implementation of the assembly plan and test facilities to achieve the necessary project delivery timeframes
  • Responsibility for completion of individual tasks within a specified timescale
  • Supporting the preparation of the Certificate of Origin and documentation to support destination country import requirements
  • Coordination, ensuring appropriate consistency and quality is maintained
  • Problem resolution (technical and team)
  • Ensuring works are carried out in safe, efficient and coordinated manner
Skills
  • Excellent understanding of power electronic system assembly
  • Experience of relevant Standards and Quality systems
  • Good communicator, Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is essential
  • Strong financial control to ensure that manufacturing budgets are meeting the delivery cost requirements
  • Self starter, Good interpersonal skills, well organised, and be able to work effectively on projects with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally
  • Right to work in UK
Location

The role is based in the Altrincham office (Greater Manchester) to work with our experienced local team to help deliver equipment for some cutting edge international projects. Additionally, short term travel to other company and client offices for team and project meetings and site work will be required, as necessary. You are also being required to support the wider engineering team and business with other activities on an as-needs basis
