Job summary

A leading composite manufacturing company in Great Edstone is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements, liaise with engineering teams, and ensure accurate production estimates. The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering and experience in the manufacturing sector, ideally with composite materials. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with advanced technologies in the production of vital parts for ships, submarines, and aircraft.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with composite materials is ideal.
  • Previous experience in medium or low volume manufacturing/MRO environments.
  • Experience with productivity quality and safety improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement of product using lean tools.
  • Liaise with production/process engineers for material selection.
  • Work alongside Production Management for accurate production estimates.

Overview

We now have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer which will require:

  • An energetic and enthusiastic leader of people with a good sense of commercial priorities
  • An understanding 'change management'
  • Motivation to identify and deliver improvements in the efficiencies and bottom line of the business
  • Analytical thinking to introduce new innovation
  • An ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of productivity and cost drivers
  • Effective implementation of productivity quality and safety improvement initiatives.
  • An understanding that ERP and physical processes need to be considered together.
  • The continuous improvement of product through the life cycle using lean tools and techniques to maximise efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Creation of job cards as required until complete production handover is achieved.
  • Liaison with production / process engineers to ensure the correct materials are selected for both tooling, covering support fixtures and craft related jigs in support of parts manufacture.
  • Working with Production Management to ensure production estimates for hours and materials are both accurate and reflective of current processes.
  • Graduate or apprentice level trained engineer.
  • Experience of working in manufacturing environment
  • Ideally experienced in working with composite materials.
  • Previous experience delivering process engineering in medium or low volume manufacturing/ MRO environments
  • Experience of collaborative working within teams in a manufacturing or MRO environment
  • An understanding of structured quality and safety problem solving (such as "8D")
  • An understanding and practical implementation of "lean manufacturing" principles.
