Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Procurement Manager, you will be a pivotal part in leading key procurement activities, successfully securing the supply of goods and services for Virgin Atlantic’s requirements, and optimising commercial outcomes whilst mitigating risk. This role offers an excellent opportunity to engage with the business to support the creation and delivery of strategies for specific spend categories, using business input, market research and analysis of spend data.

Day to day
  • Responsible for conducting detailed analysis of category spend and volume information, supporting strategic and operational procurement.
  • Conduct core procurement plans and processes to deliver business objectives and commercial gain.
  • Research and evaluate options for supply through selection of suppliers, conducting tenders and supplier negotiations.
  • Drafting, negotiating and implementing robust commercial contracts.
  • Maintain positive and productive partnership at all levels, within the categories you're aligned to and more broadly across the organisation.
  • Raise awareness of Procurement’s role and capabilities, educating business owners on the opportunities and benefits of a strategic focus on purchasing activity.
  • Encourage business partners to actively contribute to the sourcing process, fully understanding their roles and responsibilities and input where relevant.
  • Advise business partners on how to actively performance handle suppliers against core metrics to drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Develop expertise in your allocated category area – understanding market forces, cost drivers and what motivates suppliers in order to drive the ongoing cost-effectiveness of these products and services.
About you

We're seeking someone with strong interpersonal and influencing skills who is able to build and maintain outstanding relationships.

Qualifications
  • High level of end to end procurement experience in a Legal, Supply Chain or Business Management area.
  • Confident in researching, assimilating and processing data from a range of sources.
  • Proven commercial contract management experience, ideally gained during contract, commercial, or procurement background with experience in management of large enterprise contracts.
  • Sound knowledge of contract law and negotiating sophisticated commercial deals with large supplier organisations.
  • Experienced with web-enabled procurement tools.
  • Knowledge of procurement within the airline sector is advantageous but not essential.
