Management Accountant

Circa £42,000 Dependent On Skills And Experience

Permanent, full time (37 hours) with flexibility for part time

Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial planning, performance, and decision‑making across your business area. You will deliver high‑quality financial insight, budgeting and forecasting, and commercial support that enables informed decision‑making in a complex and regulated environment. You will be accountable for delivering accurate actuals, forecasts, and budgets for both the area you support and other areas within the remit of the Finance Manager and your team.

You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with financial controls policy & procedure, escalation of control issues and communicating key financial controls messages across the virtual finance teams for your designated business area. You will deliver the business planning and management accounting processes for the designated business area for OPEX and CAPEX, driving continuous improvement of processes, communicating key messages and timescales to stakeholders. The budget areas you will be responsible for will be of a mid‑size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for producing financial budgets and forecasts for your designated business area
  • Single point of contact for assigned budget holders for provision of all financial data and information
  • Working with your team and the Financial Controller, ensure key milestones and budget objectives are built into the timetable and plan
  • Ensure compliance with the budget timetable and process
  • Drive standardised continuous improvement in the budget process in conjunction with your team
  • Deliver the forecasting process for the designated business area, challenge assumptions in the bottom‑up process and ensure forecasts reflect an appropriate balance of risk and opportunity

What does it take to be successful?
  • Qualified Finance professional (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in managing stakeholders
  • Experience in producing actuals, forecasts and budgets
  • Experience with management accounting
  • Experience of compliance with financial controls and processes
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of, and application of financial reporting and analysis tools (e.g Power BI, SAP analysis and reporting applications) in providing high‑quality outputs
