Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Staverton, Wiltshire

Working Pattern: The role is shift based, working 12 hour rotating shifts, following a set shift pattern including weekend working.

Salary £56,251.00 + potential bonus + generous pension scheme + equivalent to 25-day holiday entitlement + other fantastic benefits!

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity in our Staverton plant for someone to join our team to provide Engineering Support by maintaining plant and equipment to optimise safety, quality, plant performance and product availability. The Maintenance Technician role works alongside the Operations department supporting the factory to achieve maximum asset utilisation through prompt response and planned, preventative action.

The Maintenance Technician will support the site’s TPM programme by active participation in the Maintenance Work Group, therefore helping to reduce breakdowns through root cause elimination.

A day in the life of a Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be a key point of contact for all technical matters within various departments throughout the Staverton Factory.

Other aspects of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance of all process and packing equipment, site services and utilities
  • Adherence to all safety procedures and identification of safety improvements.
  • Issuing of permits to work and use of the isolation procedures.
  • Development and improvement of all maintenance procedures.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement and TPM within the team.
  • Understand and feedback information relating to performance at daily engineering meeting.
  • Contribute to control of spares and equipment purchased.
  • Use of Computerised Maintenance system to monitor and analyse machine performance.
  • Generation, completion and return of Works Orders.
  • Engineering support for plant start up, shutdown and changeovers.
  • Work to maintain product quality and integrity.
  • Recording and passing on of information to colleagues on all shifts
  • Sharing of skills and information with others. Tutoring and advising others.
  • Safety of self and others
What will make you successful

This role sits at the heart of our Plant and to be successful we have some requirements as detailed below

  • Educated to HNC/ONC/NVQ qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent & have served a formal engineering apprenticeship.
  • Experience in a factory maintenance environment, preferably with a Total Performance Management culture
  • Broad skilled Technician with a core skill and competent in at least one other engineering discipline
  • Practical experience of PLC controlled high-speed packing lines and process plant.
  • Systematic fault finding and rectification.
  • IT skills (including interfacing with PC controlled machinery) and working with Preventative Maintenance and Stores systems.
