Maintenance Team Leader

Location: Blackpool area

Salary: £60,000 – £63,000

Shift Pattern: Panama Shift Pattern (5s and 4s)

The Role

A well-established manufacturing business is currently recruiting a Maintenance Team Leader to join their engineering function during an exciting period of growth and investment. With multiple capital and improvement projects scheduled to commence in 2026, this is a key leadership role within the site’s maintenance and reliability strategy.

The successful Maintenance Team Leader will be an experienced and seasoned leader, capable of balancing hands‑on maintenance support with effective people management. This role requires a strong technical background alongside a clear passion for continuous improvement, reliability, and performance delivery within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading, managing, and motivating a team of multi‑skilled maintenance engineers on shift
  • Providing hands‑on electrical and mechanical maintenance support during breakdowns and critical issues
  • Managing daily shift activities, workload allocation, and engineering priorities
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
  • Supporting and delivering PPM strategies and engineering best practice
  • Acting as the technical escalation point for complex faults and repeat issues
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards and site engineering procedures
  • Contributing to upcoming capital projects and site improvements planned for 2026
About the Candidate
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Team Leader, Engineering Supervisor, or similar leadership role
  • A strong background in hands‑on maintenance within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • The ability to lead from the front while effectively managing and developing an engineering team
  • A clear passion for continuous improvement with a proven track record of delivering measurable results
  • Strong fault‑finding capability across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Recognised engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
