Here at Serco, we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, which includes providing them with temporary accommodation.

As the Maintenance Operative, your role is key in ensuring all requested repairs, whether reactive, proactive, or pre-planned (via manager), are carried out to the required standard and within our SLA deadlines. You will be required to fit fire doors and frames, complete fitted kitchens, and install bathrooms, including all plumbing and pipework.

This is an exciting opportunity covering Birmingham for an individual with previous maintenance experience in a field related to joinery, fitting, plumbing, painting & decorating, etc. You will be a highly motivated individual who can manage your own workflow as well as work within a team when necessary.

As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the health & safety of yourself and all users of the property during and after works have been undertaken and completed.

As part of your role, you will be required to purchase and manage materials using a company account card from approved Serco suppliers only. Vehicles provided by the company will be inspected regularly and maintained in a professional and clean condition.

Flexible Working Pattern

  • Monday to Friday, with hours per day between specified times to meet operational needs.

On-Call Requirements & Out of Hours Working

  • There will be a requirement to undertake out-of-hours on-call duties, working on a rota basis to ensure 24/7 emergency cover as per contractual responsibilities. This will occur approximately once every 8 weeks for emergencies.
