Overview

MJM Industrial is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to work directly for a global leader in automation systems for Airports, Parcel, and Warehousing. The distribution centre operates an automated material handling system, running 16/7 to support a UK-wide network. The on-site team ensures high system availability and order fulfilment, with potential to scale to 24/7 as operations expand.

Responsibilities
  • As a Maintenance Manager, you will serve as the local representative, ensuring a reliable and skilled on-site service team. In this role, you will act as a key liaison between the client, the customer, and external suppliers.
  • Leading and managing the local service team, ensuring effective execution of the service contract, including budget oversight and cost control
  • Serving as the single point of contact for the customer regarding all operational and technical matters on site
  • Driving continuous improvement in system performance and operational processes, while actively pursuing professional growth and development
  • Promoting a strong safety-first culture and ensuring all team activities align with Safety, Quality, and Environment (SQE) Management System.
Essential Experience and Requirements
  • HNC or equivalent in mechanical, mechatronic, or electrical engineering, with several years of on-site management experience—ideally in automated systems or a similar industry
  • Must have manufacturing warehouse experience
  • Hands-on, analytical, and solution-focused, with strong leadership and customer communication skills
  • Experience with PLCs, conveyor systems, lifting/hoisting equipment, pneumatics/hydraulics, and industrial networks (e.g., Profibus, Fibre-Optics, Interbus)
  • Knowledge of WCS/WMS systems and Health & Safety regulations
  • Proficient in MS Office with strong written and verbal communication skills
