Overview

Alexander Steele are working with an established ambient food manufacturing business in Hitchin who are looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team.

The ideal candidate will be a time-served engineer with experience in food or FMCG manufacturing, with good mechanical and electrical skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns to keep production running smoothly
• Work on a wide range of kit including conveyors, mixers, and packing machinery
• Support continuous improvement projects, looking at reliability and efficiency
• Get involved with root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues
• Make sure all work is completed safely and in line with food safety and site standards
• Keep accurate maintenance records and support audit readiness
• Work closely with production and other departments to achieve site targets

On Offer

• £50,946.27 per year
• Monday to Friday - rotating shifts:
• Mon-Thurs 6:00am-3:15pm, Fri 6:00am-2:15pm
• Mon-Thurs 12:45pm-10:00pm, Fri 1:45pm-10:00pm
• 33 days holiday
• 5% employee / 6% employer pension
