Job description
Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Engineer to join our Sherburn site. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the full site, working largely independently while being part of a small team of around ten people, including the Site Manager and Health & Safety function.

The role combines day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting with project coordination and site improvements, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant running of all plant operations.

Salary: Competitive (based on experience) £38K-45K

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm (with flexible working available)

Location: Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage and maintain all site engineering activities.
  • Carry out troubleshooting, repairs, testing, isolations, and installations of plant equipment.
  • Support and lead planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  • Manage spares inventory, permits, isolations, risk assessments, and contractors.
  • Provide technical input into site projects, upgrades, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure safe working practices in line with COMAH regulations and Health & Safety standards.
Skills & Experience
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering background (HND or equivalent, or time-served).
  • Experience in maintenance and plant operations (chemical or process industry desirable).
  • Knowledge of COMAH regulations and process safety (training provided if needed).
  • Strong problem-solving, technical, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on a small, close-knit site.
