Job summary

A family business in Burnley is seeking a Machine Operative to join their growing team. The successful candidate will operate machinery, manage stock preparation, and ensure quality checks. Essential experience in waste management and machinery operation is required. The role offers at least £15 per hour, 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, and opportunities for overtime.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in waste management or similar is essential.
• Experience with a 360 Excavator and JCB Telehandler would be beneficial.
• Up to date certificates for using the machinery is preferred.
• Self-motivated and can-do attitude towards health and safety.
• Adaptable and flexible with good quality checking skills.
• Prepared to work shifts, weekends and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Picking, sorting, and dispatching products/materials with quality checks.
• Operating stock preparation equipment to ensure continuous supply.
• Operating a Telehandler and Excavator.
• Unloading trucks and working on waste permitted site.
• Understanding production schedules and carrying out safety checks.
• Completing/recording relevant data/documentation as required.

As a Machine Operative, your roles and responsibilities will include:

• Picking, sorting and dispatching products/materials along with quality checks
• Operating stock preparation equipment and ensure continuous supply
• Operating/driving a Telehandler and Excavator
• Unloading trucks and working on waste permitted site
• Understanding production schedules and carrying out safety checks
• Accurately completing/recording all relevant data/documentation as required

We’re looking for a Machine Operative with the following skills and experience:

• Previous experience in waste management or similar is essential
• Experience with a 360 Excavator (using a selector grab) and JCB Telehandler would be beneficial
• Up to date certificates for using the above is preferred
• Self‑motivated and can‑do attitude towards health and safety
• Adaptable and flexible, good quality checking skills and communication skills
• Prepared to work shifts, weekends and overtime as required

In return the successful Machine Operative will receive from £15 per hour, plus the following benefits:

• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays and birthday off
• Shut down over Christmas
• Lots of overtime available paid at enhanced rates
