Job description

The job plan will include care for Uro-oncology patients, focused on patients with prostate cancer. Cross-site working across NCEL (North Central and East London) sites will be required to support delivery of services across the network. This may require undertaking clinics and / or theatre lists at other NCEL sites, such as at Barking, Havering & Redbridge NHS trust or Barts health NHS trust. The post holder will have a specialist interest and clinical expertise in the management of prostate cancer and experience in performing robotic prostatectomy.

Overview

The post holder will ensure services are responsive to the needs of patients and their families, facilitate cross-team working where appropriate, and support MDT and divisional governance structures. The role involves collaboration with the Clinical Lead, Divisional Clinical Director (DCD) and management team to meet external standards, contract targets, and service development objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care for Uro-oncology patients, with a focus on prostate cancer, and maintain expertise in robotic prostatectomy.
  • Undertake cross-site clinics and/or theatre lists at NCEL sites as required to deliver services across the network.
  • Engage with the multidisciplinary team; attend and contribute to MDT meetings; support effective multidisciplinary working.
  • Collaborate with the DCD and management team to respond to external standards and ensure service compliance.
  • Support education and training of junior medical staff; act as or support education supervisor and academic leads; monitor compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in service planning with the Divisional Clinical Director and management team to meet contractual and performance requirements (e.g., waiting lists, winter pressures, cancer waiting times).
  • Promote research and development activity within the service in collaboration with academic leaders and the wider Trust in line with governance and strategy.
  • Act as an ambassador for equality and diversity within the division and the service.
