Overview

A new and exciting opportunity is advertised for a Urology Consultant to join our Urology team. This is a fixed term post for an 8th urology consultant. This is a new post and applicants with skills that complement the department would be welcome. The department is open to candidates developing their own subspecialty interests. An interest in core urology and competence in bladder outflow surgery/functional urology would be desirable.

Responsibilities
  • To fully participate of elective and emergency urological service (this includes management of common paediatric inguino-scrotal conditions)
  • To provide highest possible levels of patient care
  • To work as an active member of the Urology team
  • To actively remain clinically competent
  • To work closely with Multidisciplinary teams
  • To activate particulate and undertake audit
  • To teach staff/Medical Students
  • To work to all Trust Policies and procedures
  • To work flexibly

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • NHS Experience
  • Relevant speciality degree
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice

Desirable

  • Entry on the GMC Specialist register via: CCT or CESR (CP) - date must be within 6 months of interview / CESR or European Community Rights

Experience

  • Essential: Experience of Teaching Junior Staff

Desirable

  • Experience of Audit in (speciality)

Research & Publications

  • Desirable: A specialist interest in a specialist area to complement the other consultants in the department
  • Publications in recognised (speciality) journals
  • Research projects relating to speciality
