Job description

Lincolnshire County Council is seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join their Legal Services team on a temporary basis. This role is essential in supporting the council's statutory and commercial obligations, working across a diverse range of contracts and procurement matters.

You will become an integral part of a small team delivering legal services to the Local Authority, partner District Councils, and the newly created Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support on services contracts, IT contracts, framework agreements, collaborative procurements, grant agreements, and subsidy control.
  • Work closely with client departments to ensure compliance and effective delivery of commercial projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contractual documents.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the Legal Services team, supporting colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legislation and local authority governance requirements.
Essential
  • Minimum of 3 years PQE in contracts and procurement work for a local authority.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial law and public sector procurement.
  • Proven ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
Desirable
  • Experience working with combined authorities or district councils.
  • Familiarity with subsidy control and grant agreements.
