About Our Client

Our client is a Creative Writing, Film and Theatre Graduate of Reading University, currently living in a bungalow near the University. She has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy that causes her limbs to be stiff and spasm and causes involuntary movements.

She describes herself as: “Hello, I’m twenty-three, I have cerebral palsy and am a full-time wheelchair user. I’m a Creative Writing, Film and Theatre graduate. I’m staying in Reading as I have found a bungalow near the uni that I feel very comfortable in. It also helps me to be more independent as I have outgrown living with my parents. I’m a very go with the flow kind of person but am organised when I need to be. My ideal PA is someone who feels like a friend who just so happens to help me out.

I am very talkative and always up for a laugh. I like to go out shopping, and I like going to the cinema. I’m very close with all my friends and we like to go out together, on these occasions you may not be needed but please keep your phone nearby in case I need you. I am also very musical and my favourite artist is Taylor Swift. I’m also a performer and recently did a standup Comedy routine for the first time in public.

If I wake up and am just having a bad day, the best thing to do is provide me with snacks, check if I want to talk and see how the day goes. I’ve been trying to get myself out of the house and doing things on down days, but sometimes this is too much.”

About the Job

You will provide our client's personal care and social support. This is also a “study buddy” type of role which goes far beyond simply care work.

You will be required to work as part of a team of two PAs who will provide our client’s 24/7 care and support, including:

  • Personal Care
  • Social Support
  • Night Time Care
About You
