Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Library Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will play a key role in delivering and promoting high-quality library and knowledge services to staff and students.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide front-line support to library users, including answering enquiries and assisting with resources.
  • Assisting with the document delivery service
  • Dealing with overdue stock
  • Assist with administrative tasks and contribute to a smooth running of the library.

What we’re looking for:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills and willingness to learn library systems.
  • Previous experience in a library or customer service environment is desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job

To carry out varied library tasks such as maintaining stock control; promoting the library's services, resources and facilities; assisting with the document delivery service; dealing with overdue stock; checking new books in and monitoring open orders; processing new books on arrival and staffing the enquiry desk and attending to users.
