Job summary

A leading hospitality brand is looking for a qualified lawyer for a 9-month fixed-term contract to support their in-house legal team in Greater London. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years PQE with expertise in English commercial law. This role offers flexibility with hybrid working, and the successful applicant will be involved in drafting and negotiating contracts, and providing legal support to various stakeholders. Salary is between £60,000 - £65,000, depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in English contracts law is essential.

This is a 9 month Fixed Term Contract to cover up-coming maternity leave in the team.

The Team & Business:

Our client is a thriving hospitality brands business with multiple well known brands under their name. They have an influential and collaborative legal team of 4 and are instrumental in aiding the business success. You will report into the senior counsel of the business and work with a range of stakeholders including sales, marketing, technology teams). The team is lean but highly efficient and deliver legal and commercial solutions to all business units.

The role and key accountabilities:
  • Your main focus will be to support the businesses with commercial contracts (including in particular drafting and negotiating client contracts) and working with sales teams across the business.
  • Providing general support to the business on a wide range of legal matters.
  • Assisting the AI, Tech and Privacy lead as needed.
  • Helping to monitor and manage legal inboxes. At times it can be high traffic and organisational support will be required.
  • Horizon scanning and ad hoc legal research, including contract law and related regulations and new European legislation relevant to our businesses.
  • Provide support to the senior counsel and other stakeholders
Knowledge and skills required:
  • Qualified lawyer (1 to 3 years' PQE in UK or other jurisdiction)
  • Excellent knowledge and expertise in English commercial/contracts law with qualifications in England and Wales or equivalent commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Organised with a structured way of working and considerable attention to detail, especially under time pressure.
  • Ambitious and willing to take ownership over projects and matters, and work independently with little or no supervision from time to time.
  • Good time-management and ability to prioritise and get the job done.
  • Being a "problem solver" or "solutions focused" with a goal-oriented way of working.
  • Strong expertise in office management systems (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), use of file sharing/cloud-based applications (e.g. SharePoint).
  • Confidence in advising a variety of stakeholders and negotiating with external clients.
  • A collaborative individual with a proactive style of working.
  • Willingness to support with different areas of law / new jurisdictions as the business's needs change.
  • Ability to forge and develop strong relationships within the team and across the business.

Location: London or Reading (flexible/hybrid working)

Start date: February 2026 (likely mid to late Feb)

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 dependent on PQE and relevant experience

Duration of contract: 9 month Fixed Term Contract (may extend to 12 months)

Full time OR Part time: Our client is very open to both with full time being a preference.
