Job summary

A global technology company is seeking a lawyer with at least five years of postgraduate experience to manage commercial and government contracts. Your responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating contracts, managing claims and terminations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, business acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment. This is a full-time position based in Hemel Hempstead, England, with no remote work opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years postgraduate experience; in-house legal department experience a plus.
  • Prior transactional experience including the ability to draft and review contract terms and conditions.
  • A background in government contracts is desirable.

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and government contracts related to sales and services. You will manage the full contract lifecycle including handling claims, amendments, terminations and bid protests. The position also involves addressing compliance inquiries, conducting due diligence on agents and distributors within the assigned market and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will collaborate with external counsel on litigation matters to protect the company’s interests and mitigate risks.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years postgraduate experience; in-house legal department experience a plus.
  • Prior transactional experience including the ability to draft and review contract terms and conditions.
  • A background in government contracts is desirable; experience with public sector contracting a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, listening and influencing.
  • Good relationship building in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, customers and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills; big‑picture oriented but able to focus on details also.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness with the ability to advise on legal matters in the context of business strategy and objectives and to translate legal advice into practical business solutions.
