Overview

Lecturer - Mechanical/Manufacture Engineering

Salary: 41,833 - 50,359
Contract: 1.0 FTE / 35 hours
Location: Based at Falkirk Campus
Term: Fixed-term until March 2026

The Department of STEM and Construction is seeking an experienced candidate as a Lecturer to teach Manufacturing Engineering for learners across SCQF levels 5 to 7 in a practical and experiential setting. The role is predominately workshop based with potential in-class delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Manufacturing Engineering for SCQF levels 5 to 7 in a practical and experiential setting, primarily in the workshops.
  • Deliver related classroom content in materials, quality control and Health and Safety as needed.
  • Produce high quality learning, teaching and assessment materials and deliver teaching relative to the specialist areas of fabrication/welding.
  • Work toward professional teaching qualification, and Assessor and Verifier qualifications if not already held.
  • Collaborate as part of a team to ensure the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date.
  • Demonstrate appropriate ICT skills and strong knowledge of health and safety.
  • Be flexible to work across all three Forth Valley campuses and potentially at other campuses if required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Significant experience in manual milling and turning; ideally with industrial exposure in relevant engineering fields.
  • Candidates with significant industrial experience will be considered even if they have no prior teaching experience.
  • Ideally holders of a relevant Higher National qualification or professional equivalent.
  • Teaching experience is desirable but not essential; prepared to work toward a professional teaching qualification, and Assessor and Verifier qualifications.
