Job description
Lecturer in Media Production & Digital Content Creation

City St George’s, University of London is continuing a strategic expansion of its Media and Communications offerings and seeks to appoint a LECTURER IN MEDIA PRODUCTION & DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION.

The Department of Media, Culture and Creative Industries draws together academic staff specialising in Advertising, Creative Writing, Culture and Creative Industries, English, Marketing Communication, Media Management, Media and Communications, Media Production, Public Relations, Publishing and Strategic Communication. The department is committed to maintaining the high quality of our teaching. For more information on the courses and modules we currently provide please see our website: https://www.city.ac.uk/about/schools/communication-creativity/media-cultural-creative-industries

The successful candidate will have a good first degree and expertise related to Media Production and Digital Content Creation. Candidates should be able to teach and design modules across the subject in a way that is industry‑focused and socially relevant. In particular, you should have the ability to teach most if not all of the following modules on our BA Media Production, MA Media and Communications and other related programmes:

  • Digital Content Creation (UG, Y1)
  • Intermediate Editing (UG, Y2)
  • Intermediate Camerawork (UG, Y2)
  • Promotional Content Creation (UG, Y3)
  • Advanced Editing and VfX (UG, Y3)
  • Audiovisual Media Production (MA)
  • Digital Content Creation (for PR and Marketing) (MA)

You should have deep expertise in video production and the ability to use and teach post‑production software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro; Adobe Photoshop). Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro will be tested at interview.

You will have a professional background in the media industries and the ability to share insights from that background in a way that is supportive of students’ employability. You will be able to relate to a generation of students more likely seeking to create content for TikTok or YouTube than submitting films for festivals or working at legacy media platforms such as the BBC.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed teacher able to engage, mentor and support a diverse student body that includes international students as well as students from widening participation backgrounds.

We are also looking for a new colleague who is both a team player and leader willing to collaborate to scale the provision of Media Production across an expanding department.

Application deadline is 1st February.
