The Role

Purpose of the role
As our Learning and Development Leader, you will lead our learning and development strategy, designing and implementing learning solutions that shape how our people grow and thrive, boosting performance, engagement, and capability across Laminar Projects. You’ll work with senior leadership to ensure learning aligns with business priorities and fosters a culture where development is part of everyday work. This includes introducing new learning and training systems and driving key projects.

Team
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll establish a strong and scalable L&D function. You’ll manage our learning and training team and collaborate with our in-house clinical psychology team. From day one you’ll have close support from the CEO to set direction and foundations for long-term success.

Your Top 5 Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver learning initiatives that address today’s needs and prepare us for tomorrow’s growth
  • Shape the strategy by developing an L&D approach that fuels a people-first culture
  • Measure impact by tracking key learning metrics and sharing insights with leadership to drive improvement
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure learning is relevant, connected, and embedded
  • Lead the team: inspire, guide, and develop a high-performing learning culture

Your Capabilities
You’re adaptable and hands-on, able to move between planning, delivery, coaching, and continuous improvement to help people do their best work.

Must-Have (Fundamentals)
  • Mastery: 5+ years in learning and development with 3+ years in a leadership/management role (leading a team of 6+). Experience designing and delivering organisation-wide learning programmes with knowledge of LMS platforms and modern digital tools. Strong understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Behavioural Science, Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology, or related L&D field
  • Communication: Clear, engaging communicator who can simplify complex ideas and connect with senior leaders and team members
  • Leadership: People-focused leadership, prioritisation, and ability to drive projects to completion
  • Impact: Ability to track outcomes, learn from data, and implement real improvements

Nice to Have

  • PhD or professional certifications (CIPD, ATD, etc.); experience measuring training ROI and using learning analytics
  • Influence at senior levels and adaptability to different audiences
  • Interest in growing into bigger roles as we scale; mentoring others
  • High-profile, complex change management or organisational development experience
