Lead Systemic Family Psychotherapist - CAMHS

We are seekingan experienced family and systemic psychotherapist to join our well-establishedand valued family therapy service within specialist CAMHS in Herefordshire andWorcestershire.

The post holderwould contribute to the provision of the evidence-based treatment of childrenwith mental health difficulties by developing and supporting systemic thinkingand practice within CAMHS. They would contribute to the work of core CAMHS andlead specialist family therapy clinics across the county. They would provideconsultation and training to other professionals within CAMHS and supervisionto newly qualified family therapists and those on introductory and intermediatetraining. There is much scope to developinnovative systemic approaches to improve outcomes for young people andfamilies at all stages of the CAMHS journey.

This is full time post, but we wouldconsider applicants looking for part time.

Main duties of the job

The post holderwould join a vibrant group of systemically trained professionals including fourqualified and experienced family therapists and two AFT registered supervisors,a systemic therapist currently in training and 4 practitioners who are trained(or in training) to intermediate level. They would participate in all aspectsof the systemic family therapy service including provision and receipt oftraining and supervision as appropriate to their level of experience. Theservice has strong links to both Birmingham and Exeter University trainingcourses and has trained a growing number of staff through securing HEEfunding.

The post is anideal opportunity for an experienced family and systemic psychotherapist tolead and develop innovative systemic practice in a supportive teamenvironment.

The post holderwould need to be fully qualified in systemic family therapy with substantialpost qualification experience in an NHS setting working with families, holdingregistration with the UKCP via the Association of Family Therapy and SystemicPractice. A qualification in systemic supervision recognised by AFT would bedesirable.

Qualifications
  • UKCP registration as Systemic Family Psychotherapist
  • Member of the Association of Family Therapists
  • Postgraduate qualifications and family therapy at doctorate level within the family therapy Specialism

Experience
  • Considerable experience of working within the NHS, social services or related agencies
  • Considerable experience of working with children and adolescents with mental health problems in a family therapy setting
  • Assessing the needs of individual children and families
  • Considerable experience of interagency and multiagency working
  • Working with children, young people who are experiencing significant mental health problems and their families at times of distress
  • Working with children and families who may have cultural or language issues
