Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Pharmacist - Specialist Surgery to join our dedicated Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.

This role will see you working alongside the Lead Pharmacist - General Surgery to lead on the clinical pharmacy service to this area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on the clinical pharmacy service for the Specialist Surgery area, working with the multidisciplinary team to promote clinical and cost-effective prescribing through evidence‑based guidelines.
  • Develop, audit and monitor Medicines Management processes within the service.
  • Provide training and supervision to departmental staff.
  • Be part of a forward thinking pharmacy department that values innovation, professional growth and teamwork, supporting the development of advanced clinical, leadership and operational skills.
  • Play an influential role in the patient care pathway at a senior level within the service.
  • Collaborate to support day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services across specified specialties in the surgical directorate (e.g., Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedics, Breast, Urology, Maxillofacial and Foot and Ankle).
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Pharmacist with hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent; excellent clinical knowledge, strong communication skills and the ability to influence and lead.
  • Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy (evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork is advantageous).
  • Desire to contribute to continuous improvement and development of pharmacy services.
  • Experience in a clinical environment; good leadership skills; commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards one.
