About the role

Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Water Recycling (Infrastructure) – Balfour Beatty (@one Alliance)

@one Alliance is a partnership of eight leading companies—Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO—delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. As we enter AMP8, our most ambitious Asset Management Period, we are preparing to undertake our largest project yet. This is an unparalleled opportunity to shape industry standards, drive innovation, and accelerate your career.

Are you ready to be part of something transformative?

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, design oversight, and strategic guidance for potable water (clean) and water recycling (wastewater) infrastructure projects, including pipelines and networks. You will play a crucial role in ensuring designs are efficient, compliant, and future-ready, while also supporting the growth and development of our engineering teams.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide technical reviews, guidance, and input for infrastructure designs, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards.
  • Work closely with Design Managers and Technical Managers to track key milestones and review dates.
  • Collaborate with Principal Engineers to enhance design calculations, standards, and product innovation.
  • Lead design review meetings and contribute to CDM and commissioning strategy discussions.
  • Oversee quality control processes through Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), supporting discipline engineers to meet project timelines.
  • Champion new technologies and best practices, ensuring alignment with MAS standards.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering professional development and standardizing procedures.
Who we're looking for
  • A degree (but not essential) in water/wastewater engineering or a related field.
  • Ideally proven experience as a technical expert in potable and wastewater pipeline design, quality assurance, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with design software and industry processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing teams.

This role is not assigned to individual projects but instead provides strategic technical leadership across a portfolio of projects. If you are ready to take the next step in your engineering career and make a lasting impact, apply today!
