A leading engineering firm is seeking a Lead Hardware / Electrical Engineer in Glasgow. This role involves leading project teams through the EC&I design lifecycle, reviewing designs, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications. Qualifications

  • Experience delivering EC&I or control system design in the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of field cabling systems, routing, sizing and earthing.
  • Competent control panel designer with experience of PLCs, I/O, comms hardware and UPS systems.
  • Degree or HND in a relevant discipline with suitable post-qualification experience.
  • Able to interpret customer requirements and produce accurate documentation.
  • Understanding of the full project lifecycle.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to obtain Disclosure Scotland clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and driving project teams through the full EC&I design lifecycle.
  • Reviewing and approving designs developed by engineering colleagues.
  • Interpreting customer drawings, specifications and supplied data.
  • Producing and modifying design packs, including GAs, schematics, wiring diagrams and cable drawings.
  • Designing control systems focused on PLC-based control panels, cabling, MCCs, drives, controls and switchgear.
  • Carrying out site surveys and contributing to health and safety documentation.
  • Producing client and project documentation such as FDS, test documents and manuals.
  • Supporting SAT, commissioning activities and the development of tenders and cost estimates.

Where you'll be doing it

You’ll join a specialist engineering team delivering advanced control and electrical systems across the thermal and hydro power generation sector, with work also spanning other regulated environments. The role is hybrid, with travel to customer sites when required.
