Job description

To deliver high-quality training programmes that develop Apprentices’ knowledge, skills, and behaviours as required for their Apprenticeship. Complete individual Apprentice learning, assessments, reviews, and completions in a timely manner as set by management, achieving or exceeding the required quality standards. Support all elements of the Apprentice journey, including preparation for Gateway for Standards Apprentices, providing Apprentices with constructive, professional, and relevant feedback and support to help them gain the Apprenticeship Framework or Standard, as appropriate.

This position is Hybrid (30% Remote and 70% at 9 Regiment RLC - Buckley Barracks in Hullavington Barracks, Hullavington, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6BT)

Core tasks and responsibilities
  1. Support and deliver high-quality, robust, individualised Apprenticeship initial assessment to identify the starting point of the Apprentice’s journey regarding knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for their Apprenticeship.
  2. Provide coaching and mentoring to Apprentices to support the development of knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for their Apprenticeship.
  3. Provide constructive, professional, and relevant feedback that supports Apprentices' progress in relation to their Apprenticeship Framework or Standard.
  4. Utilise all available and appropriate technology in the delivery of learning programmes to support and develop Apprentices' knowledge, skills, and behaviours effectively and efficiently.
  5. Embrace new ways of working, technology, and approaches to learners, thinking creatively to engage learners, especially when they are deployed away from their usual workplace.
  6. Arrange regular workplace visits/contact with Apprentices to induct, observe, support, develop, and progress them.
  7. Assess the work of Apprentices in/at the workplace/virtual classroom/workshop within set timeframes and guidelines laid down by the awarding body and the customer.
  8. Observe Apprentices against criteria laid down by the awarding body/Apprenticeship Standard and provide feedback and support as appropriate.
  9. Ensure all assessments and evidence for both regulated qualifications and Apprenticeship Standards are valid, authentic, relevant, current, and sufficient, achieving internal quality assurance targets.
  10. Carry out thorough individual Progress Reviews with Apprentices and submit paperwork within agreed timescales.
  11. Monitor the development and progress of allocated Apprentices, liaising with Programme Managers to ensure timely achievement and development.
  12. Identify and document periods of Apprentice absence, completing necessary paperwork.
  13. Maintain accurate Apprentice records within MIS, e-portfolio, and online learning systems.
  14. Complete Apprentice visits, virtual or on-site, as required.
  15. Internally quality assure the work of other Apprenticeship Coaches where qualified and directed.
  16. Work proactively with Apprentices, military or civilian line management, and colleagues to foster positive relations and learner interests.
  17. Maintain positive relations with Apprentices, customers, business partners, and stakeholders to support business retention and growth.
  18. Support Apprentices in developing positive attitudes towards learning and achievement.
  19. Attend standardisation and team meetings as required.
  20. Identify, complete, and record relevant CPD activities to support your delivery capabilities.
  21. Assist in assessing other qualifications or developing other Apprentices as needed.
  22. Be flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
  23. Be prepared to work on other apprenticeship programmes appropriate to your qualifications.
  24. Undertake any other duties as required.
Our Successful Applicant

Someone with experience in delivering Large Good Vehicle Apprenticeship Standard/Driver Apprenticeship Framework and Supply Chain Operative Apprenticeship Standard/Warehousing Apprenticeship Framework.

Training / Competencies
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven coaching and mentoring skills, or willingness to develop them.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Holds relevant training, coaching, or assessor qualifications.
Experience

Essential

  • Background in Logistics & LGV driving.
  • Experience in Supply Chain, Warehousing, working with customers, suppliers, and transport companies; managing receipt, order, assembly, and dispatch of goods; efficient use of space and mechanical handling equipment.
  • Good time management and planning skills.
  • Proven effective Apprentice programme management.
  • Effective use of technology to support delivery.
  • Target-driven with a track record of achieving targets.
  • Strong written skills for detailed feedback and objective setting.

Desirable

  • Proven coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Experience with Ofsted inspections.
  • Understanding of ESFA funding requirements.
