Job summary

A well-established equine care facility in Reigate and Banstead is looking for an apprentice to manage equine care tasks including mucking out, feeding, grooming, and assisting with events. Training will be provided, with the opportunity for progression to a Level 3 Senior Groom role. A good basic equine experience is essential, along with a willingness to work towards Functional Skills in Maths and English.

Qualifications

• Ability to work towards Level 2 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English.
• Good basic equine experience required.

Responsibilities

• Muck out and keep the yard tidy.
• Turn horses in and out, change rugs.
• Fill haynets and water buckets.
• Feed and groom horses.
• Assist in running events.
• Ride/train if qualified.
• Groom at competitions.

Job description

Overview

This is a large 40 horse yard with lots going on, they have liveries, run events, buy and sell horses and compete.

Responsibilities

• Mucking out/ keeping yard tidy
• Turning in and out / changing rugs
• Filling haynets and water buckets
• Feeding
• Grooming / Tacking up
• Helping to run the events
• Riding / Training for the right candidate
• Grooming at competitions

Training

All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Must be able to work towards Level 2 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English

Prospects

Progression to the Level 3 Senior Groom and or possibility of full time employment.
