Job description
About the Role

Applications are invited for a part-time (0.5 WTE) Research Fellow to support delivery of the Devyser‑funded research programme "Evaluation of a diagnostic method for detection of molecular signs of rejection and tissue damage following kidney transplantation" at the Royal Free Hospital. This is a research‑only post with no clinical service commitment. Under the supervision of Dr Rhys Evans, the post‑holder will coordinate and deliver key elements of the study, including participant identification, sample processing, assay coordination, data management and analysis, and regulatory documentation. The Fellow will support operational delivery of the study in accordance with GCP, NIHR standards, Research Governance, and the project timelines outlined in the Devyser Research Funding Agreement.

Background & Research Approach

Devyser AB specialises in advanced diagnostic kits for complex DNA testing. The Royal Free, as an internationally recognised transplant centre, will conduct a 3‑year evaluation of a novel molecular diagnostic method for detecting early evidence of allograft rejection and tissue injury in kidney transplant recipients. The study will involve:

  • Collection of clinical samples from kidney transplant recipients
  • Processing and transfer of samples according to SOPs
  • Integration of Devyser molecular assay outputs with clinical and laboratory data
  • Analysis of correlations between molecular markers, graft function, and clinical outcomes
  • Preparation of interim and final study reports for Devyser in line with contractual milestones
  • Central coordination of research visits, sample logistics, and data acquisition
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver participant identification, sample processing, assay coordination, data management and analysis, and regulatory documentation.
  • Support operational delivery of the study in accordance with GCP, NIHR standards, Research Governance, and project timelines.
  • Compile and maintain accurate study records and reports.
Eligibility & Sponsorship

You must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom or meet the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. We welcome applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship, and these will be considered alongside all other applications. Before applying, please ensure that both you and the role meet the eligibility requirements under the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) points‑based system to avoid disappointment.

Additional Information

The Trust will request a DBS (CRB) if the post involves regulated activities. The Trust is compliant with the Disclosure and Barring Service codes of practice and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
