Job summary

A leading engineering business is seeking an On-Site IT Support Engineer to provide comprehensive IT support. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting user issues, installing and maintaining workstations and servers, and monitoring systems across the organization. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in IT support, a solid understanding of PC hardware, and strong communication skills. This position offers a salary of £27,000 - £30,000 and is based on-site in Sunderland.

Qualifications

  • Previous similar experience in an IT Support role.
  • Ideally with a recognised IT-related qualification and an appetite to develop further.
  • Proven experience of server environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site desktop support for technical infrastructure.
  • Advise and assist users with software, hardware, and network issues.
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain workstations and servers.

Role: IT Support Engineer

About the Opportunity

GEM Partnership is delighted to partner with a leading engineering business in their appointment of an On-Site IT Support Engineer, who will provide IT support across all aspects of their business.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing on-site desktop support for technical infrastructure for end users
  • Advising and assisting users in solving problems related to software, hardware, networks and peripherals
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain workstations, servers, networks, and peripheral equipment
  • Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and profiles
  • Monitor systems, perform regular backups, conduct security checks (firewalls), and manage IT inventory
  • Resolve and elevate IT incidents and change requests
  • Involvement in IT-related projects alongside typical day-to-day Support duties
Qualifications
  • Previous similar experience in an IT Support role
  • Ideally with a recognised IT-related qualification and an appetite to develop further
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Office 365 etc.) and operating system
  • Good understanding of PC hardware
  • Proven experience of server environments and Active Directory
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication skills, patience, and customer service skills
