Job Title: SOS Coverage Specialist

Pay rate range: $28.00/hr

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00am or 8:00am start time

Duration: Temporary position

NOTE: This position requires a reliable vehicle to travel between client sites.

Travel to: Greater Boston, MA; Waltham, MA; Watertown, MA

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform duties related to Site Services operations.
  2. Travel to customer sites as required.
  3. Coordinate and lead team efforts to meet customer requirements.
  4. Collaborate with management on projects such as SOPs, scopes of work, and training, including direct customer interaction.
  5. Interface with customer contacts to procure lab supplies and materials.
  6. Utilize Avantor and customer systems like SAP, Inventory Manager, and Chemical Manager.
  7. Train Avantor Lab and Production Services associates.
  8. Provide SAP support, including invoicing and credit rebills.
  9. Maintain quality metrics and KPIs.
  10. Manage expense reports and budgets.
  11. Achieve revenue, safety, performance, and quality goals.
  12. Develop programs to improve service efficiency.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate or undergraduate degree in business or science is a plus.
  • 3-5+ years experience in inventory control, procurement, shipping, or inside sales is preferred.
  • Certifications such as IATA, DOT, OSHA are advantageous.
  • Forklift certification and valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
  • Experience with VWR/Avantor products and cross-referencing or inside sales is beneficial.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% outside of primary state location.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Flexible, proactive, motivated, and able to work independently.
Environmental and Physical Conditions
