Overview

NRL are proud to be supporting our client SeAH Wind on the recruitment of their Head of Projects to work in their new multi million pound constructed factory in Middlesbrough. SeAH Wind are manufacturing the largest XXXL monopiles globally which will be used to support the global transition into cleaner renewable energy. We are supporting SeAH in their search for their Inventory and Logistics Manager.

You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the logistics team for the safe and efficient transportation of materials and product around site and within the confines of the factory. While performing the allocated tasks the Manager must meet applicable safety standards, targets, criteria, and deadlines to maximise productivity and profitability.

What you’ll do on a day-to-day basis
  • Development and implementation of transportation strategy to optimise the movement of materials and products around the site.
  • Coordinate the movements of materials and product around site.
  • Manage the main raw steel inventory to allow timely production of monopiles.
  • Coordinate with Procurement on incoming deliveries from dockside to facility.
  • Coordinate with Project Team on planned shipments and key movements.
  • Control supplier performance in relation to SPMTs (Self Propelled Modular Transport).
  • Execute transportation cost estimates/budgets.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient movement of materials and products to meet customer requirements and enable continuous production.
  • Oversee the transportation team, directing activity and ensuring safe operations.
  • Manage the logistics team for the safe and efficient transportation of materials and product around site and within the factory.
  • Ensure all procedures, documents and practices for the movement of materials and finished products comply with health and safety requirements.
  • Drive collaboration with logistics and production teams to find optimal solutions for timely delivery to the destination.
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system for all material movements into/from/within the area of operation.
  • Liaise with other departments and sub-contractors to ensure support for manufacturing according to schedule requirements.
  • Oversee a high volume of heavy and special transports, handling of heavy materials, loading/unloading, transportation, and installation.
  • Train contractors on logistics, SOPs, compliance standards, and safety performance.
  • Plan the best use of available space to store materials and products efficiently.
  • Identify and resolve problems as they occur to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Notify and escalate any issues that could affect quality, safety and delivery.
  • Monitor costs relevant to transportation activities.
What we need from you
  • Previous experience of operating overhead gantry cranes, fork lift trucks and SPMTs.
  • Minimum of A to C GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Appropriate licence or qualification in operating forklift trucks, SPMTs or other relevant mobile plant (training will be provided).
  • Prior management and leadership experience.
  • Experience of writing SOPs and procedures.
  • Extensive experience of transportation and logistics.
  • Ideally, experience working in a heavy engineering/fabrication environment.
