Job Summary

We are recruiting an enthusiastic, caring and compassionate nurse to join the ILD service based at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is part‑time 0.6 WTE and covers the whole county with clinics at Worcester Royal, Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, Kidderminster Treatment Centre, Malvern Community Hospital and BHI, Bromsgrove.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist respiratory nurse‑led ILD clinics (oxygen, DMARD, ventilation) across the county.
  • Initiate and monitor DMARD therapy and oxygen therapy in line with BTS 2015 guidelines.
  • Provide joint respiratory consultant and nursing clinics for ILD and support the Band 7 in the multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting.
  • Offer patient education, emotional support and remote phone support at diagnosis and throughout the course of the disease.
  • Secure referral pathways to pulmonary rehabilitation, palliative care, lung transplantation and tertiary antifibrotic therapy.
  • Participate in the prospective weekend rota (1 in 8) to support wards for oxygen, asthma and NIV discharges.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with current UK registration (NMC/HCPC).
  • Minimum 2 years post‑registration experience in respiratory medicine, including ILD, including evidence of continued professional development.
Essential Experience and Skills
  • Experience of caring for patients with ILD and non‑invasive ventilation.
  • Knowledge of oxygen assessment and DMARD initiation.
  • Proven ability to manage change, prioritise and delegate in an unpredictable environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and patient‑centred philosophy.
Person Specification
  • Highly competent clinician with specialist cardio‑respiratory skills.
  • Evidence of CPD portfolio and reflective practice.
  • Excellent IT skills and organisational ability.
  • Willingness to further develop respiratory skills and leadership experience.
