Interim Financial Controller

Essex (Hybrid)

Day rate: £400 – £500 p/day (DOE) – umbrella

Interim – 3months +

We’ve partnered exclusively with our client in their search for an experienced Interim Financial Controller. This incumbent will provide immediate support following a recent finance system implementation. This is a hands‑on role focused on stabilising operations, clearing backlog, and ensuring the new system is configured correctly while day‑to‑day finance activities continue seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and optimise Sage system configuration for accurate reporting and operational efficiency.
• Oversee data migration and ensure integrity of financial information.
• Clear backlog of transactions and reporting tasks created during system implementation.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, setting priorities and restoring structure.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes across all group entities.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP).
• Oversee statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
• Ensure robust financial controls and governance across the group.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and support treasury activities.
• Deliver accurate management reporting and analysis to support decision‑making.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes for the group.
• Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insight and strategic support.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Ensure tax compliance and coordinate with external advisors where necessary.
• Act as key point of contact for finance-related queries across the business.

Skills & Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.
• Must have experience with the implementation of Sage.
• Proven ability to lead and support.
• Happy to get hands on involved.
• Strong technical accounting skills and ability to manage complex data migration.

This is an urgent role and requires an immediate start.
