A well respected SME in the healthcare sector is seeking a Finance Business Partner in Gloucester to provide key commercial and financial support for P&L performance management. Responsibilities include leading financial performance reviews, providing financial insight, and managing project cost accounting. The ideal candidate holds a full accountancy qualification and has demonstrated experience in a similar role within an SME. The position offers a competitive salary and will require a minimum of 2 days in the office per week.

Job description

The Finance Business Partner will provide key commercial and financial support to the operational area of the business, responsible for supporting P&L performance management, forecasting, and financial insight to drive operational and commercial decisions.

My client are a well respected SME in Gloucester that operate within the healthcare sector.

Description
Key responsibilities
  • Act as the primary finance partner to the senior leadership team, supporting delivery of their divisional P&Ls through commercial insight and financial analysis.
  • Lead monthly financial performance reviews with key stakeholders, identifying risks and opportunities against budget and forecast.
  • Provide financial support and challenge around margin performance, cost control and revenue delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on scenario planning and re-forecasting.
  • Take responsibility for project cost accounting, analysing, and interrogating actual/forecast versus budget variances, working alongside finance and operational colleagues across the business.
  • Attend project team meetings as required, contributing financial insight and highlighting cost variances to inform forecast adjustments required.
  • Manage queries regarding supplier orders/ invoicing.
  • Provide monthly updates on project financial performance, reconciling any movements and aligning forecasts with figures recognised in the management accounts.
  • Monitor ongoing spend on large scale enabling and rectification works, forecasting future expenditure and ensuring appropriate provisions are recorded in collaboration with finance colleagues.
  • Monitor ongoing development capital expenditure, including a review as part of the month end process.
  • Take responsibility for contract renewal dates and opportunities for cost savings in collaboration with operational teams.
  • Support the preparation of divisional forecasts and budgets, ensuring consistency with central finance assumptions and alignment with operational plans.
  • Provide commentary and insight to variance analysis, bridging operational drivers with financial outcomes.
  • Maintain a working understanding of pipeline activity and contract delivery impacts on divisional performance.
Profile
  • A full and recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) - candidates that are qualified by experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role within a SME
  • Advanced Excel skills: ability to manage complex data and Pivot tables.
  • Pro‑active with strong communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with both finance and non‑finance staff across the business, up to board level.
  • An enquiring/inquisitive nature, and ability to dig deeper into requests to gain understanding.
  • Hold a driving licence and prepared to undertake occasional journeys on Company business.
Job Offer

There is a highly competitive salary on offer (depending on experience). This role needs someone to be able to start on the 2nd March at the latest and will be a 12 month contract. Car parking is available on‑site and this role will require a minimum of 2 days office based work out of the 5.
