Job summary

A leading environmental services company is looking for a qualified candidate to oversee operations and ensure safety at the HWRC sites in Newbury. The role requires strong management and communication skills, as well as experience in maintaining safety procedures and compliance. Qualifications

  • Experience in operating yellow plant is a plus.
  • Previous waste management experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain safety procedures to ensure worker safety.
  • Operate and monitor fixed/mobile plant equipment and weighbridge.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of HWRC sites, ensuring maintenance and compliance.
  • Monitor and maintain recycling quality standards.
  • Supervise and motivate team members, assist with evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Prepare documentation and reports while maintaining compliance.
  • Manage workforce training and resource needs.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00

What you'll be doing
  • Implement and maintain safety procedures, conduct work safe observations, and investigate accidents/incidents to ensure worker safety in designated work areas
  • Operate and monitor fixed/mobile plant equipment and weighbridge, reporting defects and arranging waste collection through internal or external contractors
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of both Newtown Rd and Padworth HWRC sites, ensuring safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities with timely waste removal
  • Monitor and maintain recycling quality standards for inputs and outputs, ensuring compliance with Quality and Environmental Management Systems
  • Supervise and motivate team members, assign tasks based on individual capabilities, and assist with performance evaluations
  • Ensure adherence to Odour Management Plan, Environmental Permitting, Planning Permission requirements, and all Health and Safety Regulations
  • Prepare accurate documentation, production sheets, and reports while maintaining discipline and procedural compliance in work areas
  • Monitor workforce training and resource needs, cascade corporate communications, and assist in site improvement initiatives for enhanced effectiveness and efficiency
