Job description
Overview

Please note CQC are advertising this role on behalf of the Human Tissue Authority. This role is NOT open to applications from those who will require sponsorship under the points-based system. If you apply and require sponsorship, your application will be rejected and any provisional offer of employment withdrawn.

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and public display. We also approve organ and bone marrow donations from living people. Our aim is to protect public and professional confidence in the safe and ethical use of human tissue, with the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre of our work.

Role

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Corporate Services Manager to join the HTA. In this pivotal role, you will support the HTA in achieving its vision by leading our Corporate Services support functions and enabling effective business operations across the organisation. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Performance & Corporate Governance, you will bring a passion for governance, compliance and quality. You will provide expert support and guidance across the organisation, delivering services that empower rather than constrain our work.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a diverse portfolio including governance and quality management arrangements (including Quality Forum).
  • Corporate compliance with key government requirements such as Government Functional Standards. Note: incoming corporate correspondence may occasionally include graphic images; viewing these as part of processing is infrequent but unavoidable.
  • Critical Incident Response Planning and Business Continuity Planning.
  • Corporate correspondence and enquiries handling, including complaints.
  • Freedom of Information.
  • Event planning and facilitating individual adjustments as appropriate.
Security and Nationality
  • Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.
  • People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.
  • Nationality requirements apply (see original advert for details).
What we can offer you
  • Health and wellbeing benefits, including generous annual leave (32.5 days + 8 Bank Holidays), cycle to work scheme, subsidised gym membership and eye care initiative. NHS pension scheme membership is available.
  • Office based in Stratford, London with a flexible contract option: minimum 1 day in the office or a remote-working home-based contract with periodic office attendance as required.
  • Commitment to inclusion: we welcome candidates from all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups.
Qualities and capabilities

You will be adept at managing multiple priorities with excellent judgement, quickly building trust and forming effective relationships with senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation. You will be an expert communicator, engaging with senior stakeholders in writing and verbally, and demonstrating your technical expertise across all aspects of the function. A proactive, professional approach, strong written outputs and high calibre work are essential. Resilience, flexibility and the ability to stay calm and solution-focused under pressure are important in this broad and busy role.
