About the Role

One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced and hands-on HR Officer to support its Work Services Unit. This is a key operational role providing on-site HR advice, guidance, and coaching to managers and staff.

You'll be working closely with the HR Business Partner to support employee relations, lead on restructures and redundancy processes, and help build management capability through mentoring and training.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and professional HR advice aligned with policies, procedures, and employment legislation (including ACAS Code of Practice).
  • Support change management and restructuring processes, including redundancy consultations.
  • Deliver training and coaching to managers to improve their people management skills.
  • Conduct monthly HR drop-in sessions for employees to support ongoing development and engagement.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for all HR-related matters within the Work Services Unit.
What We\'re Looking For
  • Proven experience as an HR Officer, Advisor, or Generalist (ideally in the public sector).
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting restructures and managing employee relations cases.
  • Confident communicator with excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently and embed HR support directly within a team.
