Job description
HR Manager

With a strong reputation for customer service and technical excellence, the company is now part of EDF Energy Customers Zero Carbon Home division, supporting the UK's transition to an electrified Britain.

The Opportunity

The HR Manager is a critical, currently standalone role responsible for owning and executing all facets of the human resources function for the organization.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (FTC), where you will be the single point of accountability for both daily HR Operations and the strategic development of scalable HR infrastructure and policy. A key focus will be on implementing and optimising HRIS systems to automate processes, as well as providing expert employee relations guidance and ensuring full legal compliance.

You will thrive on autonomy, be highly self-sufficient, and possess the versatility to shift rapidly between strategic planning and hands‑on administrative tasks.

What you’ll do
  • End‑to‑End HR Ownership: Manage the entire employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration and offboarding.
  • HR Department Infrastructure and Scalability: Design and document all foundational HR processes, manage vendor relationships (e.g., benefits providers, payroll providers) and prepare the function for future scale.
  • Policy Development and Legal Compliance: Research, develop and implement all necessary HR policies and procedures, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant employment laws.
  • Employee Relations and Advisory: Serve as the primary, expert advisor to all employees and managers on complex HR matters, providing confidential coaching, conflict resolution and guidance on disciplinary actions.
  • Culture, Well‑being and Engagement: Plan and organise company events, run awareness days (e.g., Mental Health Awareness) and implement programs that boost morale and retention.
  • Training and Development: Design, coordinate and deliver essential training programs for employees and managers on key topics such as compliance, leadership skills and company policies.
  • Reporting and Data Integrity: Maintain 100% accurate and up‑to‑date employee records and independently generate and present insightful HR metrics and reports to leadership for strategic decision‑making.
Who you are
  • Experience in an HR generalist role within a UK‑based commercial or fast‑moving environment.
  • Ideally CIPD qualified, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Proven ability to manage both the strategic and administrative workload of an HR function independently, with strong project management skills and a willingness to execute all tasks, from policy design to filing.
  • Highly organised, detail‐oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Deep, demonstrated proficiency in administering, implementing or optimising HRIS platforms.
  • Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law and best practices.
