Job description
Purpose of role
  • Act as the first point of contact for all HR related queries for Beck and Pollitzer UK, providing effective employment law and best practice advice and guidance to the UK Operational team in a timely and proactive manner, escalating to the HR Manager, UK, where required.
  • To assist the HR Manager, UK in the continuous development of the UK HR function including the implementation of the People strategy as well as the development and maintenance of HR systems and processes and ultimately adding value where possible.
  • Ensure all UK policies and procedures remain legislatively compliant.
  • Drive clear communication channels between the business and the HR team.
Main responsibilities
Advice and Guidance
  • Proactively manage an employee relations case load efficiently and effectively, maintaining consistency across UK sites.
  • To advise managers in all aspects of employment relations including, GDPR, bullying and harassment, conduct, performance management, grievance and sickness absence in line with the employment policies, employment law and good practice.
  • Support the Operational team as required in meetings face to face, over the telephone or Microsoft teams.
  • Support the HR Manager, UK in ensuring all policies and procedures are current and Managers are educated on required processes to ensure the correct interpretation and application of company policies and procedures.
  • Have an excellent understanding of employment legislation and ensure practices are carried out in line with changes in legislation.
  • Provide advice and support with change management.
  • Support with ensuring the data in the HRIS accurately kept up to date at all times.
  • Support the HR Manager, UK with the execution of the HR delivery plan.
  • Lead the and development of the existing HR Co-Ordinator in line with the business requirements.
  • Work with managers to manage and reduce sickness absence and contribute to greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support the HR Manager, UK in preparing responses to employment tribunal claims, preparing for hearings or audits as required.
  • To ensure/oversee that changes to individual staff records are processed efficiently within agreed timescales, liaising with managers, and payroll staff as appropriate and ensuring GDPR compliance is maintained at all times.
  • Support the HR Manager, UK with continuous process improvement within the HR function.
  • To create and implement efficient HR workflow and processes that integrate seamlessly across other business functions.
  • Support with the utilisation and management of the Apprenticeship Levy.
  • Maintain monthly HR KPI data
  • Support the HR Manager UK with the annual salary review process and bonus scheme programme.
Resourcing
  • End to end management of blue collar and low end white collar recruitment, including job description drafting, advertisements and interview support. Support with the issuing of new starter documentation and contracts of employment and managing the onboarding of new starters.
  • Support with the induction planning for new colleagues to ensure they are welcomed to the business appropriately.
  • Support as required with the end-to-end immigration visa processes to enable UK employees to work in other countries and for foreign workers to work in the UK ensuring minimum risk.
General
  • Work in accordance with Beck and Pollitzer policies and values.
  • Proactively manage your workload, develop and implementing HR Project Plans as agreed with the HR Manager, UK.
  • Visit business units and sites across the UK when required, to discuss the HR issues and identify any areas for improvement.
  • Arrange relevant meetings and take minutes, ensuring the documentation is typed up for key letters and reports as required.
  • Support other HR activities and assist with key HR project work as directed by the HR Manager, UK.
