A reputable recruitment agency in Brentwood is seeking a Housing Officer to manage properties and support tenancy sustainability. The ideal candidate will have experience in social housing, particularly in income recovery and tenancy management. This full-time role offers £24 P/H and requires engagement with residents empathetically. An immediate start is available, along with a full UK driving license for home visits.

Overview

Housing Officer – Brentwood (4 days office based)
Until March 2026
Full-time, 37 hours per week
£24 P/H

Responsibilities
  • Manage a patch of properties, ensuring effective tenancy and estate management.
  • Proactively manage rent arrears and income collection in line with policy.
  • Address tenancy breaches and anti-social behaviour cases promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct estate inspections, home visits, tenancy sign-ups and accompanied viewings.
  • Liaise with residents, contractors, and external agencies to resolve issues and ensure tenancy sustainment.
  • Provide advice and support to tenants on housing and welfare-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate records and casework using IT systems.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in social housing, including income recovery and debt management.
  • Strong knowledge of tenancy management and related legislation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage with residents empathetically.
  • Confident in using IT systems (Word, Excel, Outlook, housing management software).
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to conduct home visits, sometimes outside normal hours.
