Job summary

A specialist housing association is looking for a Housing and Support Officer to manage a patch of around 120 self-contained homes. The ideal candidate will support residents in achieving independence through intensive housing management services. Responsibilities include managing tenancies and budgets, conducting estate inspections, and liaising with local authorities. Candidates should have experience in supported housing or housing management and must possess a full driving licence. This role offers competitive benefits, including a salary of £35k.

Housing and Support Officer

Location: Essex, Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, LB of Hillingdon

Ability is a specialist Housing Association supporting people with a disability to have choice and control over their lives. We provide accessible housing with support enabling people with disabilities to live independent lives as part of their community. As an organisation we go “above and beyond” seeking to deliver excellent services to our residents.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Housing and Support Officer you will be managing a patch of approximately 120 self-contained homes, supporting people to live independently and achieve their aspirations through the provision of our intensive housing management service. This involves supporting people to manage their tenancy, budget management as well as developing people’s independent living skills. You will also be undertaking regular estate/scheme inspections ensuring our homes are safe and liaising with local authorities, support providers and local organisations to ensure our residents have the services and supports they need to live independently.

Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking someone who is passionate about supported housing and making a real difference. You may already be working in supported housing, housing management or care and support. If you have either a housing management or support background with a ‘can do’ attitude, then we would love to hear from you.

Post requirements
  • Car driver with a full licence and use of own vehicle for work
  • Able to carry out property visits across the designated area
  • This post requires an enhanced DBS check (done by Ability)
