Job objectives and responsibilities
· To assist in delivering a comprehensive programme of worship and teaching opportunities for all faiths, with a particular focus on Hinduism, in line with contractual requirements, company standards, and resident needs.
Main duties
- Plan, organise, promote, facilitate, and deliver opportunities for worship and study for Hindu residents, including all necessary arrangements or protocols for emergency contact, in line with contractual requirements, company standards, and resident needs. The needs of potentially vulnerable female residents will be a particular (but not exclusive) focus for this post.
- Facilitate and deliver services, programmes, activities, and visits, liaising with external religious contractors, accredited religious representatives, and volunteers, especially within the Hindu community, to meet contractual requirements, company standards, and resident needs.
- Assist in developing links with outside faith communities, especially within the Hindu community, to ensure support within the Centre is current, best practice is followed, and all faiths are catered for.
- Contribute to maintaining the dedicated faith areas, especially the Hindu areas, ensuring an appropriate environment.
- Acquire and distribute, with appropriate agreement and authorization from the Manager of Religious Affairs and relevant authorities, religious literature, supplies, and materials to Hindu residents to support their faith commitments.
- Advise the Manager of Religious Affairs, religious team, and operational management of relevant religious events, including festivals, fasts, and feasts, to enable residents to observe them fully whenever reasonably possible.
- Maintain a stock of appropriate Hindu religious artefacts to support residents' faith practices.
- Provide pastoral care to residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and their families to support their safety, care, and well-being.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Manager of Religious Affairs that contribute to the goals of the chaplaincy team.
Person Specification
This is a specialist position requiring appropriate qualifications and experience in organizing and leading religious services. Evidence of accreditation within the Hindu community for religious services or ministry is required.
Eligibility requirements: Must have CTC clearance, a valid British or EU passport with share code, have lived and worked in the UK for at least 3 years with no extended trips overseas, and have no criminal convictions or ongoing police investigations.
