Calling all HLTA/Higher Level Teaching Assistants or Unqualified teachers

Academics currentl have a long-term Higher Level Teaching Assistant position with one of our welcoming and inclusive primary schools based in South Leeds. This role is set to start in January 2026 and will run for two full terms, with a strong possibility of a permanent contract at the end of the academic year for the right candidate.

About the Role

As a Higher level Teaching Assistant you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the whole school. This is a cover-based role, so flexibility and confidence in delivering planned lessons across different year groups is essential. You will be working closely with class teachers and the senior leadership team to ensure continuity and high standards in the absence of teaching staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons to classes across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • Support learning outcomes by working with small groups and individual pupils
  • Provide targeted intervention sessions where necessary
  • liaise with teachers to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum
  • Uphold school policies and contribute to the wider school ethos
Ideal Candidate
  • Holds HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) status or significant experience in a similar role
  • Confident across all primary key stages
  • Committed, adaptable and passionate about childrens' learning
  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
  • Must have a DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
