Overview

Airedale Junior Academy is a large, four form entry, junior school teaching children from Year 3 to Year 6 and is set in the heart of Airedale Castleford. Role

We are seeking to appoint a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant at Airedale Junior Academy, to complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities for students from across the school to develop their social, emotional, educational, and behavioural skills.

Responsibilities
  • Complement teachers’ delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils and academy policies and strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist them in the whole planning cycle and management/preparation of resources
  • Supervise whole classes during short-term absence of teachers
  • Provide support to pupils, teachers and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilising your advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes to become independent learners
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A resilient and experienced HLTA who is looking for new challenges and keen to join a supportive and committed team
  • A positive influence within the academy and an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • A committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills with the ability to problem solve
  • A positive and caring individual, who can make a difference and raise aspirations for young people
  • The ability to relate well to both children and adults
  • The ability to deal with conflicting demands and be able to work flexibly
  • An understanding of the national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes and strategies and how to implement them, along with an understanding of behaviour management strategies and how to work with these
  • Willingness to work with students, colleagues and visitors across the academy, with high standards and readiness to work hard
