HGV Trailer Technician / Trailer Mechanic / Semi-Trailer Fitter – Bedford

Location: Bedford
Salary: £38,000 – £44,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, overtime opportunities available
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled HGV Trailer Technician, Trailer Mechanic, or Semi-Trailer Fitter to join our busy workshop in Bedford. This permanent role offers excellent pay, overtime, and the chance to work on a wide range of trailer types and systems in a professional and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, servicing, and repairs on trailers to the highest safety and quality standards
• Accurately complete compliance and service documentation
• Diagnose and repair faults using EBS systems including HALDEX, WABCO, and KNORR BREMSE
• Participate in ongoing training and technical development
• Deliver excellent customer service while meeting deadlines
• Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
• Adapt to changing duties under supervisor guidance

Skills and Qualifications

• Essential
• Experience working on semi-trailers or heavy vehicles
• Industry standard qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQs

• Desirable
• HGV Class 1 driving licence
• IRTEC accreditation
• EBS diagnostics experience including Knorr Bremse, Haldex, WABCO
• Welding certification
• Experience with axle manufacturers such as BPW, SAF, or JOST
• Tail lift training and experience
• Experience with double deck or lifting deck maintenance
