Job description
Overview

Beech ward is a 12‑bed unit providing rehabilitation and end of life care within a community hospital. We are recruiting Band 3 HealthCare Assistants who have a keen interest in rehabilitation, Frailty and End of Life Care, a patient‑centred approach, and strong teamwork and communication skills. Applicants should be motivated to make a real difference with a caring and compassionate attitude.

We are a forward thinking, supportive multidisciplinary team with ongoing development opportunities across Dorset HealthCare.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a high‑quality, person‑centred approach to care delivery, always considering patients’ privacy, dignity and safety.
  • Deliver planned care to a group of patients in collaboration with the multi‑disciplinary team and in accordance with Trust policies and protocols.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and provide support/guidance to less experienced staff and learners as needed.
  • Manage a defined group of patients/service users under the indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, undertaking a range of delegated tasks independently using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles.
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of patient/service user care, escalating to a senior registered practitioner as appropriate.
  • Promote health and prevent ill health, contributing to integrated care.
  • Plan and undertake clinical tasks guided by standard operating procedures and protocols, within the scope of the HealthCare Assistant role.
  • Undertake delegated clinical skills within the scope of practice after suitable training, and adhere to local and national guidance.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Demonstrated patient‑centred care, with strong clinical and communication skills and a ’can do’ attitude.
  • Excellent team‑working, communication and assessment skills.
  • A keen interest in rehabilitation/Frailty and End of Life Care.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (note: applications from candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship are ineligible).
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required; Dorset HealthCare will cover the DBS cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS Update Service may present a valid certificate in place of a new check.
